About
I got my International PhD in 2006 (University of Granada), under the supervision of Prof. María José Frápolli. During my PhD years, I got to spend some months at the University of Bristol (UK) and at Institute Jean Nicod (Paris, France). My postdoctoral period was split between the Institute Jean Nicod and the Institute of Philosophy (University of London, UK). I have taught courses in different Universities, both in Spain and abroad, have attended dozens of international conferences, and delivered invited talks at the University of Munich (Germany), the Humanities Institute at UConn (US), University of Lisbon (Portugal), University of Brussels (Belgium), Institute of Philosophy (UK), University of Barcelona (Spain), Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), University of Seville (Spain), University of Valencia (Spain), etc. I received the I3 certification by the Ministry of Science.
Most of my work is done in collaboration. Over the years, I have written or presented work with María José Frápolli, Pierre Jacob, Philippe de Brabanter, Isidora Stojanovic, Christophe Heintz, Manuel Sánchez, Manuel de Pinedo, Nemesio García Carril, David Bordonaba, Eduardo Pérez, Javier Osorio, Carla Carmona, Andrea Rodríguez, José Luis Liñán and Manuel Almagro. I have published most of my work in international journals, such as Synthese, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Frontiers in Psychology, Inquiry, dialectica, Philosophy, Theoria, Análisis Filosófico, Teorema, Cuadernos de Filosofía, Scio Revista de Filosofía, Dilemata, Disputatio, etc. I have also published several pieces for a wider audience in Theconversation, elsaltodiario, sinpermiso, and Ctxt. Some of these pieces have been republished by dozens of newspapers, both in Spain and in America.
My publications touch upon a number of different topics: semantics and pragmatics, the history of analytic philosophy, relativism, retraction, applied philosophy of language, disagreement, polarization, intercultural communication, etc. My most recent production combines the traditional methods of conceptual analysis with those of experimental philosophy. I´ve been a runner-up in the 2014 Teorema Prize for young researchers, and, together with Manuel Almagro, in the 2023 Peritia Prize.
I have supervised 7 PhDs up until now, and I am currently supervising 4 more. 2 of my former PhD students won the extraordinary Prize for a doctoral dissertation. One of them, Nemesio García-Carril, also won the John Fisher Memorial Prize, of the American Society for Aesthetics. I have partaken in 11 research projects funded by public and private institutions. I am currently PI of one project: La naturaleza de lo evaluativo y la percepción de injusticia (PID2022- 140562NB-100). I´ve been Head of the Dept. of Philosophy I since 2018 until 2024, and Director of FiloLab-UGR since June 2023. I love rhinos.
